Sacred Flame

The Sacred Flame is the name given to the fire tended and passed down by the Keepers of the Sacred Flame.

According to legend, when the god Galaxy was destroyed by her own firstborn star, Blackhole, her body was first smashed into the planet now known as Allumeur, snuffing out her light. Galaxy went on to be destroyed completely, but the fiery remnants of her light continued to burn for several days. Soon, only a single, flickering flame remained. It would have died like the others – were it not for the creature Wick, who picked it up and placed it upon his wax head. He nurtured the flame back to life. In return, it imbued him with the magic of Galaxy’s light, and Wick underwent a transformation, becoming the first of the luminarchs.

Wick the Unfading, as he came to be known, passed that flame onto his children, and they in turn passed it onto theirs. For untold generations since, the Sacred Flame has been passed down from luminarch to luminarch, giving them the warmth, the spirit and the strength to unite all the species of Allumeur under one banner, and rule as beloved kings and queens since time immemorial. This exalted dynasty of luminarchs are known as the Keepers of the Sacred Flame.

In the present day, the burden of the Sacred Flame belongs to Waxworth XVIII of Allumeur, King of the Radiant Light. Per luminarch tradition, he shares this burden with his wife and sister, Queen Candella, and together the pair have created heirs to carry its legacy into the future: Prince Litandle and Princess Glowrielle.
