World:Starlight City
Entity type: Business

The Star Lounge is a bar, diner, and video game arcade located in outer space.

Styled as a space diner, replete with star-themed furnishings and flashing neon signage, the Star Lounge serves an extensive variety of drinks, both soft and alcoholic as well as hot beverages, and also food, from light bites such as nachos and fries, to more filling, standard diner fare such as hotdogs and burgers. Everything on its menu is space-inspired, right down to the cocktail list. Additionally, the Star Lounge plays host to a large selection of video game consoles, pinball machines, retro arcade cabinets and more, all freely available to customers.

As one of the first places Kinoko wanders into on his travels in space, it quickly becomes one of the yellow kuparkuke’s favourite places in the galaxy – not least because of their Milky Way Milkshake!

The Star Lounge is a fairly new venture, having only opened its doors in a single location about a year ago. Its owner had dreams of spreading it across the galaxy as a franchise, but business sadly isn’t going as well as he’d hoped. If he can’t come up with some bold new idea to get customers in through the door soon, the Star Lounge may be forced to close before it’s taken off!

Where can I find it?

The Star Lounge is located in a giant, city-sized space station near the planet Brunsun.

It’s prominently-located, and it’s also difficult to miss, thanks to its radiant neon signage and funky, space wave music (actually considered retro by today’s standards, though it’s all new to Kinoko!) which plays gently out into the street. It’s surrounded by other, more popular eateries and bars, though, so it’s often overlooked in favour of the competition.

It’s open for business every day of the week including bank holidays, open from midday until late (1.00 am on weekdays, 2.00 am on weekends), so it’s always available for you to check out and grab a milkshake whenever you’re in the locale!

What can I buy there?

The Star Lounge offers an extensive menu full of space-themed snacks, meals and beverages.

On the whole, the Star Lounge has a retro vibe, and this reflects not only in its ambience, its aesthetic, and its choice of music, but also in its menu. Diners like the Star Lounge were everywhere at one point, but they fell out of fashion and never really made a resurgence. The Star Lounge, therefore, is an attempt to capitalise on nostalgia (the appetite for which the owner has perhaps overestimated).

Some of the menu’s more popular items include the Meateor Burger, Nebula Nachos (with optional Big Dipper Dip Tray), Planet Pops, Celestial Swirl Sundae, Starlight Spritz, and, of course, the Star Lounge’s newest creation: the Milky Way Milkshake.

Because the Star Lounge is designed to appeal to a younger crowd with less money in their pockets, its prices are very reasonable.

What can I do there?

The Star Lounge started life as little more than a retro, space-themed diner and coffee bar, but recently its owner (himself a huge fan of retro gaming and pinball) has taken out another loan to introduce a large collection of game consoles and arcade cabinets, turning the Star Lounge into a video gaming arcade.

Anyone is welcome to use the game consoles (provided they buy a drink, preferably!), and tokens for the arcade cabinets and pinball machines are available to buy from the bar.
