Magica is a rabika sorceress from the planet Hocopoco, and a treasure-hunting space adventurer.

Of all the forces in the Milky Way Galaxy, magic is the least-understood. It’s all around us, affecting everyone and everything, but few species have the power to tap into and harness it, and even fewer individuals have managed to master it. All across the galaxy are universities dedicated to understanding and conquering magic. The Hocopoco Institute is the biggest and the best of them all, and is where Magica was once a student, before she was not only expelled from the university, but exiled from the planet altogether.

Magica doesn’t like to talk about what happened. Not only did she lose everything she’d worked for up to that point; her exile from Hocopoco meant that she lost her family too. Desperate to clear her name, Magica now scours the galaxy on a quest for truth, justice, and lost arcane knowledge, so she can go back home more powerful than those who forced her out.

Physical appearance

Like other rabika, Magica is a tall and slim humanoid figure with prominent lapine features. She has two hands, two feet, and a relatively long body-to-head ratio, but she also has short white fur covering her body, pink hair on her head, and a bushy pink tail. She has large, electric-blue eyes, and prominent, bucked front teeth. Her large ears are marked by the moon Fortitude, the Heart Moon.

As the Milky Way Galaxy’s epicentre of arcane learning and enlightenment, Hocopoco has attracted magical minds from all over, and is known for its eclectic fashion sense. Rabika are some of the best-dressed beings in the galaxy, but Magica herself prefers to keep things simple. She favours a red, short-sleeved top and a practical, above-the-knee skirt, with simple black boots, and no accessories – except, that is, for her hat, which is of course a magic hat, used for personal storage and teleportation.

Personality

Ever since she was a young girl, Magica has always been academically gifted and passionate about her studies. She enjoys learning, and she’s always eager for opportunities to prove herself and test what she knows. She loves puzzles and revels in being challenged intellectually, whatever the subject matter. Whether she’s engrossed in a book, engaged in some thought-provoking conversation or battle of the minds, or simply immersed in one of her hobbies, Magica is always learning something new.

Magica’s ambition knows no bounds. She grew up on a travelling carnival with her extended family and six older brothers, but she sensed the tremendous magical power within herself, and she felt wasted on the funfair and the hook-a-duck stalls. She worked hard to earn her scholarship and attend the Hocopoco Institute for Magic, and even now – expelled from the institute and exiled from Hocopoco – Magica remains just as ambitious as ever, determined to prove her doubters wrong and become more powerful.

Magica’s impatience is her shortcoming. She’s not the nurturing type and she doesn’t suffer fools gladly. She’s fiercely independent, preferring to work and adventure alone. If you want to join her, you’ve got to be able to keep up, because she has no time for your questions nor patience for your failures. She never takes more time to rest than absolutely necessary – at best, her rest is a brisk sleep, a quick vegetarian breakfast, and then it’s off to the next stop on her travels, whether you’re ready to join her or not.

Skills and abilities

Magica is an exceptionally gifted sorceress. Despite her young age, and her expulsion from the university, she is highly self-motivated, and her magical mastery is unrivalled. She can use her magic to overcome any obstacle in her path, whether by blowing it aside, transforming it into something else, or blasting it into pieces. If there’s a spell she doesn’t know yet, you can bet she’ll be trying to learn it. She’s also a highly skilled potioneer, capable of brewing remedies for just about any ailment.

In other ways, too, Magica exudes intelligence. She’s terribly clever and quick-witted, and is simply somebody who knows a lot of things about a great deal of subjects. She attributes this to her reading. She’s never happier than when she’s got her snout stuffed in a book.
